I was very happy to visit Laurel McCalla at Ubuntu Children and Family Services.
With Boyle Street Community Services as the lead, five Edmonton agencies have partnered in Ubuntu, an outcome-based, family and child centered intervention service, located in northeast Edmonton.
Ubuntu is named after the Bantu term translating to "human kindness".
The agency has already supported more than 100 families since it was launched in Spring of 2015. We've very pleased to have them in our constituency.
For more information, you can contact Laurel, Ubuntu's Program Director, at 780-424-4106, ext. 340.
Abbottsfield Youth Project
Thank-you to everyone at the Abbottsfield Youth Project (AYP) for an informative and heartfelt tour of their facility.
For 30 years in northeast Edmonton, AYP has worked with youth through engaging programming to provide life skills, as well as leadership and confidence-building opportunities. They are an invaluable resource, especially for families in the Rundle and Abbottsfield communities.
The children learn through play, giving them the opportunity to be creative and build lifelong friendships.
I was especially happy to see the children's nook - a delightful spot for children to unwind and use their imaginations!
